Doolan’s Cow FC began there journey in the Cork Business League in 2005 under the name Silversprings Moran Hotel. The team was managed by Eamonn Murphy and Ciaran Murphy and captained by Eddie Galvin. They started the season with the CBL Shield against the previous season’s Premier Division champions MCM at pigeon hill but going down 2-1 with Denis O’ Sullivan scoring Silverspring goal. Next game was against EMC, also in the Shield. EMC proved too strong on the day winning 4-1. Silverspring began their league campaign against Springgove which ended in a 2-2 draw Martin Graham and James O’Keeffe were on target for Silverspring.
In the next game, Silverspring got their first victory against Hillbillys on a 6-4 scoreline Martin Graham (3) Robert Graham, Peter O’Keeffe and John Murphy with goals. This result would give Silverspring massive confidence for the rest of the season and would go unbeaten until Christmas break. Their next defeat was in the Mick Mooney cup to RCI 2-1 after extra time but Silverspring would go on to win the league after beating Manpower 5-2 in April. They only lost one league game that season, and were very close to going the full year unbeaten. Final league record was Played 21 Won 16 Drew 4 and lost 1. In the Shandon Cup, they reached the final by beating Hillbillys and Manpower but lost the final 4-2 Springgove.
The squad for that season was Seamus Coon, Eamonn Murphy, Dave McGee, Eddie Galvin, Denis O Sullivan, Ciaran Murphy, Peter O Keeffe, James O Keeffe, Robert Graham, Martin Graham, James Carroll, Johnny Carroll, John Murphy, Jamie Bailey and John Whelan.
Silversprings Hotel became The Island Tavern and then in 2010 became the illustrious Doolans Cow FC
A double-winning session including the first Premier Division title came in the 2015/16 season under the management team of Denis O Sullivan, Wayne Kavanagh and Michael McAuliffe and was captained by Darren Geraghty. The season started with the shield where Doolan’s won there 3 group games Curraheen (10-0) The Sextant Bar (5-0 and 20/20 Glazing (8-1) but lost the quarter-final to Satellite Taxis 3-1. The first league game was against Marlboro Trust despite goals from Alan Monaher and Stephen McCarthy. Marlboro Trust would win the game 3-2. That would be Doolan’s only defeat in the league that season were they would win 18 league games in a row. Doolan’s captured the league title with a 5-4 victory against Mi Daza Rebels on 15th of May. The final league record was Played 20 Won 18 Drew 1 and lost 1.
Doolan’s also reached the 4th round of the Munster Junior Cup for first time in their history with wins over Ringmahon Rangers A (4-0) St Mary’s (5-3) and Drinagh Rangers (6-1) but losing out to Pike Rovers from the Limerick district league in the 4th round. Doolan’s reached the Mick Mooney Cup final with wins over The Sextant Bar (5-3) Cotton Ball (3-1) and Satellite Taxis (4-0). In the final Doolan’s would play Cork Eagles in O’Shea Park Blarney and would claim the Mick Mooney Cup for the first time with a 2-1 victory with goals from Liam Horgan and Tony O’Reilly.

2016/17 was a record-breaking Quadruple season for Doolans as they won all 4 possible CBL cups, winning the Premier Division, The Shield, Mick Mooney Cup & Jack O’Driscoll Cup. This is represented with the addition of 4 stars above the club’s crest. Doolans Cow the 2nd team to do it in the 68 years of the CBL equalling Youghal Yarns 1992/93 season.
This season Doolans Cow welcomed the Ambassador Hotel & General Manager Eoin Daly as a new sponsor and delivered a new all white kit for the team.
“Since joining the CBL in 2015 as part of the coaching staff with The Cow, I joined up with Denis & Mick and we wanted to make sure we took everything seriously & win all possible CBL cups & at minimum get into the open rounds of the Munster Junior & FAI Junior Cups & go as far as possible also including the Munster Champions Trophy. We’ve beaten some big named teams over the years in those cups & pushed teams to the wire when we haven’t got the win & that shows just how the standard has got better over the years. Not just the nights we train & have a match on a weekend, everyone is in contact with each other every day & we socialise together in the bar which makes us a close-knit team on & off the pitch”. Doolans Cow FC staff and players want to give a special mention to Denis O’Sullivan who as been a part of this team since the very start in 2005 as a player for 3 years and then on to manager from 2008 to present totalling 15 years involved.
