FAI Play it Right Workshops August 2026
The FAI Child Welfare & Safeguarding team are introducing a free of charge ‘Play it Right’ workshop designed to reinforce and embed learnings from previous Safeguarding courses in your organisation.

Target group:
This is a workshop aimed at Designated Liaison Persons (Chairpersons) and Childrens Officers from Clubs & Leagues working or volunteering with children in football. However it is welcome to others within clubs and leagues who meet the requirements.
Please note, this is not a Safeguarding 2 or 3 workshop but is an opportunity to enhancement learning from within those workshops to embed safeguarding within the clubs & Leagues.
This will also be an excellent opportunity for you to network with your peers from other clubs and leagues.
Method:
3 hour workshop which will be delivered in person and online via MS Teams, facilitated by a member of the FAI Safeguarding team and Grassroots team . Group work will also be used in some sections of this workshop.
Goals:
To provide enhanced understanding for participants on Safeguarding Practices to assist with embedding the culture of safeguarding within the organisation. The workshop will also focus on child protection legislation and educates participants on the implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of children involved in football.
Content:
The course will be a mix of theory and group work. The following areas will be discussed.
(a) Safe recruitment,
(b) Role of the children’s officer/DLP,
(c) Poor practice v child abuse,
(d) Expected standards of behaviour (Codes of Conduct),
(e) Reporting and dealing with safeguarding concerns.
Requirements:
All participants should have completed Garda Vetting, Safeguarding 1 and the safeguarding course specific to their role (Safeguarding 2 or 3).
