Cork Business League Oscar Traynor Trophy Management Update 2025/2026
The Oscar Traynor Inter-League Trophy, which dates back to 1963, sees Junior Leagues affiliated to the FAI submit representative league teams to participate in the competition. The Cork Business League is happy to announce that it continues to have a representative team in the tournament for the third season running.
This season’s competition will begin in October 2025 with teams participating in a provincial Inter-League competition before progressing to the national phase of the competition from January 2026 onwards.
Today we can also announce our management team – consisting of a trio from Dennehy’s Health & Fitness Grangevale: Diarmuid O’Neill, John O’Connell and Jamie O’Sullivan.
Diarmuid O’Neill has built a strong coaching career over the years, beginning with Douglas Hall between 2009 and 2013, where he worked with youth teams ranging from Under-14s to Under-18s. Since 2017, he has been coaching at Grangevale, where his impact has been significant in the Cork AUL; leading the team to three league titles, four cup victories, and five promotions across 203 games. His coaching journey also includes work with various school teams, notably guiding MICC Dunmanway to become Munster Under-17 Champions in 2023.
In addition to his coaching credentials, Diarmuid is currently pursuing his UEFA C License, further demonstrating his commitment to professional development. His playing career began in 2008 with Grangevale, where he also contributed to another league while still actively playing. Since 2017, he has been coaching alongside John, forming a consistent and dedicated partnership.
Jamie O’Sullivan also comes on board as Goalkeeping coach to support Diarmuid and John. Jamie has an FAI National Goalkeeping C Licence under his belt which will bring many benefits to the Oscar Traynor squad.
On behalf of the CBL Management Committee, we would like to wish the lads and the full squad the very best of luck in this season’s competition – you have our full backing. We would also like to thank outgoing management team James Corcoran, Ross O’Sullivan and Dan Hoey for their commitment and efforts over the last 2 seasons.
Leagues will participate in their respective Provincial competitions, with the winner from each province qualifying for the National semi-finals in January 2026.
Please note: Each Provincial FA will determine its qualifying format, and only one team shall progress from their province for each competition.
