MSL Engineering FC – A Proud Return to the Cork Business League
We’re delighted to announce the return of MSL Engineering FC to the Cork Business League – a revival of a proud tradition that dates back to 1999. This new chapter is being led by Patrick McGrath, a lifelong MSL employee and passionate mentor, now Club Chairman, who’s bringing football back to the Company thanks to the enthusiasm of apprentices in the MSL Academy.
The team may not boast big-name players, but it’s rich in character, camaraderie, and history. Their manager, Jonathan O’Mahoney, brings experience from his time with Cobh Wanderers, and the squad is made up of eager apprentices and staff ready to represent MSL with pride.

This club is more than just a team – it’s a tribute to the past. Patrick remincises that “Stories from the original 1999 squad are still shared and laughed about, including the legendary moment when Brian McGrath (now our MD) and David McGrath were sent off together in a match! We’re even on the hunt for old team photos and match sheets to reconnect with that legacy.
My family roots run deep in the game – my uncles played for Wembley FC, and the spirit of the Punch family from the Coal Quay lives on in this new generation. We may be starting fresh, but we’re carrying forward a legacy of teamwork, pride, and community. We’re excited to be part of the Cork Business League once again – and we’re here to enjoy every minute of it.
