Colso Celtic FC was established on the 4th April 2019 and has been registered to the Cork Business League 1st Division for the 2019/2020 season. The team was set up by Chairman/Manager James Corcoran and Co-Manager Liam Hennessy. Both with a wealth of experience in the Munster Senior League, the AUL and Cork Business League. The team’s home ground for the season is Casement Park, one of the most pristine pitches in Cork.

Chairman / Manager James Corcoran was happy to speak to us this week and said:

“We are currently positioned 4th in the Cork Business League in the First Division. I feel that we’re very much in the race for the title but we are very weary of the great teams around us. As a new club we are happy to hit the ground running and to be challenging for honours. We have a great squad full of experience and youth which is building a foundation for a very good side. The lads are honestly a joy to manage and find myself very lucky that a lot of quality players have signed for this club.” (James Corcoran, March 2020)

The clubs main sponsor and naming rights go to Colso Cold Food Storage which was set up in 1974 and was formed under Southern Fruit Enterprises Group. Since this time it has become a key link to several companies supply chain within the food sector. Storing product which demand different handling and temperature requirements. They are approved by the Dept of Agriculture to store Bovine, Porcine, Dairy and Fish produce and are situated in Lehenaghmore Togher.

We have to applaud the Cork Business League massively as the coverage the league and clubs has received has really been great, especially keeping track of all teams goalscorers and disciplinary table adds that extra competition for players. (Liam Hennessy, March 2020)

From looking at match results and current statistics, the two stand out players have to be Alex Cummins and Craig Murphy. After moving from Castleview and St.Mary’s respectively over the summer, they have been quite consistent throughout the season and are definitely enjoying their time in the league.
