
CBL Game of the Week: O’Halloran Hat-trick Caps off Dominant Display from Pfizer

Leeside United played host to this week’s CBL Game of the Week which took place between Pfizer FC and Stryker Macroom in a CBL Second Division clash, with Pfizer pulling off an impressive 7-0 win, writes Donncha Noonan.
It took Pfizer just ten minutes to open the scoring. Pfizer swung a corner that seemed to strike off the arm of a Stryker Macroom defender, and the referee pointed to the spot to give Pfizer a chance to convert. It was Syl Byrne who stepped up, and he comfortably slotted the penalty into the bottom left corner to give his side the lead.
Byrne would turn provider as Pfizer doubled their lead with twenty five minutes gone. Byrne battled down the wing, beating his man before running along the byline and cutting it back, where Anshul Nama was on hand to tuck it away to double Pfizer’s lead.
Stryker Macroom managed to get a hold of Pfizer after the second goal, with Pfizer struggling to find a third for the remainder of the first half.
The half time break seemed to have done the world of good for Pfizer, as it took them just three minutes into the half to get their third of the game. Syl Byrne picked out Darragh O’Halloran with a good pass, before O’Halloran skillfully skipped past three Stryker Macroom defenders in the box before powering home his finish.
Pfizer were on fire,and five minutes later they bagged their fourth. Joseph O’Sullivan battled down the left wing but was tackled, with the ball falling to O’Halloran outside the left hand side of the box. O’Halloran shifted it onto his right foot and curled an outstanding effort into the top right corner for his second of the game.
Pfizer were putting in a dominant performance and it got better in the sixty sixth minute. David Crowley swung in a dangerous corner, which bounced through the Stryker Macroom box, falling to Syl Byrne at the back post to tap into an empty net.
Pfizer managed to squeeze two more goals in at the end, scoring two in the last eight minutes. Alexander Farrell got the sixth after getting a toe in front of his man to put the ball in the bottom right corner, and it was O’Halloran who got the seventh to secure his hat trick with a brilliant curling finish from the edge of the box.
The game finished 7-0, with Pfizer having put on a brilliant display and thoroughly deserving the three points which lifts them to seventh in the Second Division table. As for Stryker Macroom, They sit ninth in the table, but with a couple games in hand they could move up the table very soon.
