CBL Game of the Week: Adriano Stunner Helps SABOR Braziil Giants to an important win over FR Valley Rangers

SABOR Braziil Giants came out victorious in a thrilling encounter in the Mayfield Sports Complex to keep themselves fourth in the Cork Business League Seconf Division table, writes Donncha Noonan.

The game started off lively, and it wouldn’t take long for SABOR Braziol Giants to find the breakthrough five minutes in. Thiago picked up the ball 35 yards out and took aim, with his effort coming off the crossbar but rebound off the back of Jaydan O’Connor in the FR Valley Rangers goal and finding the net.

FR Valley Rangers kept their heads up and quickly got an equaliser. Stephen Carr picked up the ball in midfield and drove before slipping a pass through to Kieran Kelleher who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner to level the game up.

SABOR regained the lead with fifteen minutes gone. Gabriel Giovanardi was played through down the right hand channel and sent a shot towards goal. His shot was well saved by the feet of O’Connor, but the save went right into the path of Adriano who was on hand to tap in the rebound.

They quickly made it three a minute later. Arthur latched onto a long ball and beared down on goal and coolly tucked the ball into the bottom corner to give his side a two goal cushion.

The match then began to settle down and became more controlled, but despite this SABOR Braziil Giants got a fourth thanks to an absolute screamer from Adriano with five minutes left in the half. Adriano picked it up on the left wing and superbly beat his man before cutting inside and unleashing a brilliant curling shot that nestled into the top right corner.

The second half kicked off the same way the first half ended; the two teams playing very controlled football and waiting for the chance to pounce, and it was FR Valley Rangers who got the first goal of the second half after ten minutes. Hamza Sadiq sent a troubling ball into the box. It fell to John Noonan who had his shot blocked, but Michael Witnik was on hand to tuck away the rebound to get FR Valley Rangers back in it.

However, it only took the Giants 9 minutes to regain their three goal lead. Rafael Barreiro got down the line and slipped a ball into Gabriel Giovanardi who was through on goal down the left channel, with Giovanardi able to bundle it past the keeper and make it 5-2.

The last 25 minutes were hard fought with FR Valley Rangers fighting hard to try get themselves back in it but ultimately Sabor Brazil Giants were able to hold onto their three goal cushion and see the game out.

It was a brilliant performance from Sabor Brazil Giants to get themselves the three points, but their job wasn’t made easy by FR Valley Rangers by any means.
