Curry House Hungry Tigers 3 – 12 Pfizer
Pfizer opened the scoring merely a minute in as Patrick Clifford lifted a free kick from the left hand side of the pitch over the head of Curry House keeper Cian O’Shea to give Pfizer an early lead.
Curry House would feel hard done by as minutes later Dean O’Rahilly was brought down in the box but it was waved away by the referee. Pfizer found a second ten minutes in after Mark Looney played a one-two with Clifford which sent Looney down the right wing, who slotted his finish away into the bottom left corner. Clifford got his brace for Pfizer to make it three with fifteen minutes gone, with the striker curling a free kick into the top right corner from just outside the box.
Clifford secured his hat trick ten minutes later after he was played through thanks to an incisive pass from Cathal Crowley, and he calmly slotted the ball past the keeper to get his third of the day.
Pfizer found a fifth after Daniel Feehan’s close range header was brilliantly saved onto the post by Cian O’Shea, but Cathal Crowley was on hand to tuck away the follow up to make it five. Pfizer got a quick double with fifteen minutes to play in the half, with Thomas Kelly’s cross finding its way into the bottom corner, and a minute later Clifford was on hand to tap in a rebound to put Pfizer seven to the good.
Clifford got his fifth five minutes later with an audacious first time flick in the box following a cross from Kacper Marciniak. Pfizer finished off the half with goals from Thomas Kelly and Mark Looney and headed into the break with a sizable lead.
Curry House were not thrown off by the large deficit and came out for the second half much improved. Their improvement paid dividends with fifteen to play as Daniel Jaouhari was played through on goal and calmly placed his shot into the bottom right corner to get Curry House a goal back. Pfizer responded instantly as Patrick Clifford got his sixth with a smart finish from 8 yards out.
Curry House bagged two quick goals with five minutes to play through Dean O’Rahilly and Daniel Jaouhari. It was Pfizer who’d get the last laugh as Clifford got his seventh in additional time to make it twelve.
It was a dominant team performance from Pfizer who were ruthless in front of goal, but credit to Curry House for their valiant fight back in the second half. Both teams now look ahead to resuming their seasons after the Christmas break
