July 2024, Pearse Square, Ballyphehane, Cork – Irish Sepsis Foundation & Ballyphehane Celtic Launch New CBL Club

Secretary of Irish Sepsis Foundation Ballyphehane Celtic James Corcoran and the Charity’s founder Doireann O’Mahony have come together to raise further awareness about sepsis in Ireland by expanding their reach into the footballing world. The club was was set up in the hopes of bringing a community like Ballyphehane together all while aiming high to win some silverware at the end of the season.

Doubling up as Head Coach / Manager, James has plenty of coaching experience and knew the CBL was the league to enter, “We had initial conversations about what league to take this club, but it was the CBL that continuously stood out to us, we feel it’s on the upward trajectory, and the standard is only getting better along with how well the league is actually ran. We are delighted to be part of it and can’t wait to get going.”

Sepsis is a serious condition that happens when the body’s immune system has an extreme response to an infection. The body’s reaction causes damage to its own tissues and organs. The Irish Sepsis Foundation are a dedicated Charity committed to raising awareness, providing support, and advancing knowledge about sepsis in Ireland. Established with a passion for saving lives and improving outcomes, the foundation works tirelessly to educate the public, healthcare professionals, and policymakers about the critical importance of early recognition and prompt intervention in sepsis cases.

A local business, Noel Murphy’s Bar, is also sponsoring the team for the season.
