Mick Mooney Cup –Second Round

Martin Harvey Solicitors 1 – 2 VoxPro 2

VOXPRO edged home in a tough encounter with bottom of the table Martin Harvey Solicitors at Mayfield Community School to meet the winners of the all-premier encounter between Co. Council and holders Satellite Taxis in the last eight, writes Finbarr Buckley.

A Daniel Casey free-kick for the hosts separated the teams at half-time before the visitors dug in in the trying overhead conditions  to clinch the tie with two tidy finishes from top scorer Reece Hogan and Fintan Cadigan. Padraig Cotter and Adam O’Leary impressed for the winners.

 Janssen 1 – 0 Healy O’Connor Solicitors

First division Janssen knocked out premier opponents Healy O’Connor solicitors courtesy of  Alan Murphy’s solitary goal to set up a last eight tussle with the winners of the CPL and Crookstown United tie. Healy’s best included Breifne Kent and Steven Kavanagh.

Doolan’s Cow 8 – 0  The Weigh Inn Dripsey

Twice winners Doolan’s Cow had little difficulty in brushing aside the challenge of a gallant Dripsey in the first ever meeting between the teams. Jamie Murphy (4), James Cotter (3), Stephen McCarthy (2) and one each from Sean O’Sullivan, Roy McCarthy and Graeme Buckley registered the goals for the home side. Fionn Edwards, Jack Casey and Noel Looney were competitive throughout for the visitors.

OBS 1 – 6 Doolan’s Cow

Champions Doolan’s Cow returned to league action after their heroic adventures in both the junior cup competitions to move off the bottom of the table in only their second match of the campaign. Liam Horgan’s inch-perfect pass put Jamie Murphy in for the opener for Doolan’s after five minutes. Stephen McCarthy doubled the lead in the 10th minute before James Cotter added a third and Murphy a fourth, the two goals coming before the half-hour mark. After Arainn McGrath reduced the deficit for the under-strength hosts on the stroke of half-time, Murphy  completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute and Cotter  finished  the scoring with the visitor’s sixth ten minutes later

UCC United 6 – 1 Marlboro TrustUCC’s title aspirations received a timely boost with a resounding win over second in the table Marlboro at The Farm. After Ali Ahmidat’s low cross was driven in by Vadym Horobets, Kevin O’Sullivan quickly equalized for the visitors only for Horobets to restore United’s lead before the break. Ahmidat and Mo El Shouky combined for Horobets to complete his hat-trick with Cathal Doherty heading a fourth, Hobobets claiming a fifth and Ahmidat a sixth before the final whistle. Four-goal Hobobets, captain Doherty and the industrious Ahmidat stood out for the winners.
