The Weigh Inn Dripsey 1 – 0 PepsiCo

THE WEIGH INN DRIPSEY  turned in their best performance of the season to take all three points from the visit of title contenders PepsiCo to The Regional Pk., last Sunday afternoon, writes Finbarr Buckley.

Following a neat passing movement between Frank Field, Jack Casey and Killian Kelleher, Daniel O’Driscoll was released to score his third in the last two outings to seal the win with the only goal of the game just before half-time. Field, Casey, Daniel O’Brien and Noel O’Sullivan impressed for the winners.

Martin Harvey Solicitors 0 – 9 Abtran

Second-placed Abtran bounced back from the previous weekend’s reversal to leaders Planet Entertainment to return to the top of the table courtesy of a comprehensive win over luckless Martin Harvey Solicitors in the Friday night fixture at Ballea Pk. William Corcoran banged in four with Eoghan O’Sullivan contributing a hat-trick for the new leaders. Rob Twomey (free-kick), Daniel O’Brien and Chris Coughlan were also on target for the winners. The central defensive partnership of the evergreen John Murphy and Aidan Fogarty were dominant throughout for the visitors.

Janssen 4  – 1 Dell EMC

Janssen kept on the coattails of the leaders by inflicting a fifth defeat on Dell EMC in their Sunday lunchtime encounter at Mayfield Pk. An Alan Murphy free-kick was quickly followed by a thirty yarder from Eoin Moynihan with James O’Sullivan making it three-nil before Sean Holmes reduced the deficit. O’Sullivan added a fourth in the second-half to keep his team in the title race. Gary Kelly was the pick of Dell’s performers on the day.

Marlboro Trust 0 – 4 SCS Crookstown United

Crookstown went back to the top on goal difference after a comprehensive four-nil win over four-time winners Marlboro Trust at Mayfield Community School last Saturday afternoon. Leaders Marlboro had already lost in the team’s first meeting and were seeking revenge to extend their lead at the top to six points over their opponents. However, Dave O’Halloran’s 30th minute free-kick was headed in by centre-back Liam O’Sullivan to give the visitors the early advantage. After Pa O’Sullivan set up Kevin Barrett for a second minutes later, O’Halloran was again the provider for the third in the 39th minute when his cross was headed in by Liam Wall. Crookstown should have extended their lead early in the second 45 before sub Gearoid Grainger rounded off a good day at the office for the visitors with a fourth fifteen minutes from time. Centre-backs O’Sullivan and Charles Kenneally and midfield powerhouse Colm Crowley excelled for the winners.

UCC United 0 – 1 OBS

OBS picked up three crucial points to leapfrog their opponents with the game’s only goal coming from Jack Cotter who controlled Walter Messina’s kick-out to expertly lob the keeper in the 43rd minute.  Messina denied Nyall O’Brien a second and did well to turn the rebound from Anthony O’Reilly over the top.  Steve Corbett, Cotter and O’Reilly caught the eye for the visitors.

Co. Council 2 – 5 Satellite Taxis

Satellite moved up to join Crookstown United and Marlboro Trust on eleven points with their third win of the campaign following the 5-2 win over Council. Robert Susek’s brilliant solo dribble and finish edged Council into a 15th minute lead only for goals from Pa Horgan and Eoghan Buckley to give Satellite the advantage at half-time. After Horgan stretched Taxis’s lead to 3-1, Susek headed a second from Richie Murphy’s cross in the 75th minute. However, a lapse at the back allowed Kevin O’Connor in for a fourth with Alex Coughlan wrapping up the win late on in a contest in which the scoreline flattered the winners. Liam Buckley and Colin Galvin shone for Council with Pa Horgan influential throughout for Satellite.
